Well the next LTS is here - Ubuntu 12.04 precise pangolin.
The upgrade went smoothly on both of my systems, (although I did have to force re-install of virtual box)
So far so good.

Symptom: mail getting rejected with "untrusted certificate error" when remote server not accepting non-tls mail
Cause: Ubuntu Lucid not reading the certificate file

I received my Command IR III mini the other day to add to my Myth TV setup (since my cable provider shut off the serial port on the box). I already had the remote.

After upgrading to 11.04 and doing a new install of 11.10 my ssh sessions keep timing out if left alone for too long.
The solution is to add
ServerAliveInterval 60
to /etc/ssh/ssh_config - or to ~/.ssh/config

I thought I'd try the non-kde version of Ubuntu - aka the original - and I installed it on my laptop.

The latest upgrade to thunderbird seems to break the calendar connection to google calendar.
The error is "Provider for Google Calendar is incompatible with Thunderbird 8". The simple fix is to edit
/usr/share/xul-ext/gdata-provider install.rdf
